4 Drivers Were Issued With Compound for Using Mobile Phones While Driving

4 drivers were issued with a 200-dollar compound for using mobile phones while driving. The compounds were issued by the Land Transport Department enforcers to 3 personal vehicle drivers and a public transport driver. Apart from the compound, the said drivers were also given 12 demerit points. Failure to abide by stipulated regulations will be subjected to compounds and stern action.
For the first offence, a 200-dollar fine will be issued, and 400-dollars fine for the second offence. For the third offence, the offender will be brought before the court, and a one-thousand-dollar fine, 6 month imprisonment or both will be imposed if found guilty, while successive offences will be subjected to a fine of 2 thousand dollars, 12 month imprisonment and 12 demerit points.
