The Mudahnya Sembahyang or 'Praying Is Easy' Carnival provides the public with the opportunity to increase and enhance their knowledge on how to perform prayers properly. The programme was organised in conjunction with the National Isra' Mi'raj celebration and took place at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar 'Ali Saifuddien in Bandar Seri Begawan yesterday morning. The carnival made the weekly Bandarku Ceria Programme more interesting and lively.
Yesterday's programme included the Prayer Exploration Challenge which was launched by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, The Minister of Religious Affairs. Nine teams comprising students of Religious and Arabic schools in Brunei Muara District participated. The challenge involved answering questions and carrying out tasks at designated checkpoints around the capital.
The carnival's activities were based on solat or prayer, an exhibition and the roles of departments under the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Among the activities were the Tarbiyah Taharah, Tayamum and Wudhu clinic, Al-Fatihah clinic and an exhibition on how to pray correctly and how sick and special needs persons pray. Taharah means cleansing, Wudhu means ablution where water is used, while Tayamum replaces Wudhu and is cleansing with earth or dust when there is no water.
The exhibition showcased the Youth Al-Quran Reading Scheme under the Islamic Studies Department. Its main role is to produce young Quran readers to succeed senior readers at National and International level Quran Reading competitions. The scheme was introduced in 1997.
The Prayer Exploration Challenge was won by Al-Isra team from Pengiran Anak Puteri Mutawakillah Hayatul Bolkiah Religious School in Serusop. The team members were morning session pupils.
