Attempted Smuggling of Prohibited Goods Foiled

The Royal Brunei Police Force, RBPF yesterday foiled an attempt to smuggle in contraband through the mouse trail in Kampung Limau Manis. In a media conference last night, Superintendent of Police Haji Mohammad Khairul Amilin bin Haji Idris, the Acting Commanding Officer of the Reserve Unit said a male Malaysian suspect, 51 year-old Mohd Azizan Abdullah alias Yeo Koon Kian was detained during an operation conducted by Reserve Unit 'C' Company.

 

The cigarettes were confiscated. Under the Excise Order, for the first case, the fine is six times and not more than 20 times the price of the contraband or a 40 thousand dollar fine. For the second and subsequent offences a fine and imprisonment of not exceeding two years or both. The Royal Brunei Police Force also calls on the public to provide or share information on criminal activities by calling 993 or nearby Police Stations.
