You Have To Do Honours In Australia To Understand
I don't agree with the fact that honours degree is the same as masters from UK. I am doing a postgraduate degree in Australia at the moment. From my understanding, if you wanted to do research based studies, you have to do honours in Australia.
From there you can jump to PhD if you get good grades. However, if you do not wish to do PhD or any research based studies, you can just do your 3 year undergrad studies and then take masters by coursework. Australia education system classifies their courses by research or by coursework. Australia's Masters by coursework is on par with UK's masters degree and Aust. Masters by research is on par with UK's Master of Philosophy. The only way to do PhD here in Australia after a 3-year undergrad degree is to do Masters by research or to do Honours.
Brunei scholarship does not recognize this process. To them, Masters (by research or coursework) is masters, degree have to have honours and PhD can only be done after you finished your masters degree. Therefore, if you want your life to be easier, do Masters by coursework in Australia because it usually takes 1 year instead of 2 years by research. Another thing, Australian degrees are not easy as everyone thinks. You have to really be independent and most of the time, the Australian degrees, they push you down the deep hole.
I can go on about this, but I cant be bother arguing about UK vs Australian degrees. It is really up to individual experience during their degrees.
